Super soft, fluffy & lightly sweet homemade bread

This bread is incredibly soft with a mild sweetness from condensed milk. Perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or with butter and jam.

📝 Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup warm milk (lukewarm, not hot)

  • ¼ cup condensed milk

  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil

  • Extra milk or melted butter (for brushing)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

In a bowl, combine:

  • Warm milk

  • Sugar

  • Instant yeast

Mix well and cover.
Let it rest for 5–10 minutes until foamy on top.
👉 This means the yeast is active.

Step 2: Make the Dough

In a large bowl add:

  • All-purpose flour

  • Salt

Pour in:

  • Yeast mixture

  • Condensed milk

  • Butter or oil

Mix everything together to form a soft dough.

Step 3: Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until:

  • Smooth

  • Elastic

  • Slightly sticky but not wet

👉 Press with a finger—if it slowly springs back, it’s ready.

Step 4: First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl.
Cover with a cloth or plastic wrap.

Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 5: Shape the Bread

Punch down the dough to release air.
Divide into 4–6 equal portions, shape into balls.

Arrange them in a greased loaf pan.

Step 6: Second Rise

Cover again and let rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.

Step 7: Bake

Preheat oven to 170–180°C (340–350°F).

Bake for 25–30 minutes until:

  • Top is golden brown

  • Bread sounds hollow when tapped

Step 8: Finish

Remove from oven and immediately brush the top with:

  • Milk or melted butter (for extra softness and shine)

Let cool slightly before slicing.

🌟 Tips

  • Do not overheat milk (hot milk kills yeast)

  • For extra softness, replace butter with melted butter

  • Store in airtight container for up to 2 days
