🍫 Chocolate Cake Recipe

Rich • Moist • Crowd-Pleasing

Serves: 14 slices

A classic chocolate cake that’s soft, deeply chocolaty, and incredibly easy to make. Perfect on its own or topped with silky chocolate sauce.


🛒 Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup hot water (or hot coffee for richer flavor)

Optional Chocolate Sauce

  • 200 ml heavy cream

  • 100 g dark chocolate


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  • Grease and flour a 24 cm cake pan.

2️⃣ Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

3️⃣ Wet Ingredients

  • Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.

  • Beat with a mixer until smooth.

4️⃣ Add Heat

  • Pour in the hot water (or coffee) last.

  • Batter will be runny — this is normal.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

6️⃣ Chocolate Sauce (Optional)

  • Heat cream until warm, add chocolate, and stir until melted.

  • Pour over the cooled cake.


Tips for Best Results

✔️ Hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor
✔️ Let the cake rest 10 minutes before removing from the pan
✔️ For extra softness, cover and rest overnight
