Ingredients:
• 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
• 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp salt
• 4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions:

1. Activate the Yeast
• In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar.
• Stir gently and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. (If it doesn’t foam, your yeast might be inactive.)

2. Prepare the Dough
• Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
• Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.

3. Knead
• Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
(You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 6–7 minutes.)

4. First Rise
• Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

5. Shape the Bread
• Punch down the risen dough.
• Shape into rolls, buns, or a loaf, depending on your preference.
• Place shaped dough into a greased baking pan or on a lined baking tray.

6. Second Rise
• Cover again and let rise for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.

7. Bake
• Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
• Bake for 22–28 minutes, until golden brown on top.

8. Optional Glaze
• Brush with melted butter right after baking for extra softness and shine.

Tips:
• Add 1 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste) during mixing for a richer vanilla flavor.
• For sweeter bread, sprinkle sugar on top before baking or dust with powdered sugar after cooling.
• Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
