Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar until well combined.

  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until smooth.

Step 2: Bake

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.

  2. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 3: Make the Cream Cheese Glaze

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.

  2. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk (a tablespoon at a time) and mix until you get a pourable glaze consistency.

Step 4: Decorate

  1. Once the cake is completely cool, drizzle the cream cheese glaze generously over the top.

  2. Crumble a small piece of the cake (or use cake trimmings) and sprinkle over the glaze for a beautiful red velvet crumb finish.

Tips for the Best Red Velvet Bundt Cake

  • Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature.

  • Don’t overmix the batter once the flour is added to keep the cake tender.

  • Let the cake cool fully before glazing to avoid melting the cream cheese topping.
