For the Dough
- 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2¼ teaspoons (7 g) instant dry yeast
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk
- ½ cup (120 ml) warm water
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 egg
For the Beef Filling
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil

- 9 small cubes of cheddar cheese
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef Filling
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add ground beef, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook for 8–10 minutes until the beef is browned.
- Remove from heat and let it cool.
Step 2: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and egg.
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 3: Divide the Dough
- Punch down the dough.
- Divide it into 9 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a smooth ball.
- Cover and let them rest for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Fill the Bread Rolls
- Flatten one dough ball into a circle.
- Add a spoonful of cooked beef in the center.
- Place one cube of cheddar cheese on top.
- Gather the edges and seal tightly.
- Place seam-side down on a lined baking tray.
- Repeat with the remaining dough pieces.
Step 5: Second Rise
- Cover the rolls with a clean towel.
- Let them rise for another 20–30 minutes.
Step 6: Bake
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Brush the tops with egg yolk.
- Sprinkle parsley if desired.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 7: Serve
Allow the bread rolls to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
