For the Chocolate Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (250g)
- ¾ cup cocoa powder (75g)
- 1½ cups sugar (300g)
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (240ml)
- ½ cup vegetable oil (120ml)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee or water (240ml)
For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
- 1 cup butter, softened (230g)
- 3 cups powdered sugar (360g)
- ½ cup cocoa powder (50g)
- ½ cup heavy cream or milk (120ml)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt

1. Bake the Cake
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Slowly pour in hot coffee (this enhances the chocolate flavor!) and mix gently.
- Divide batter evenly into two greased 8-inch pans.
- Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
2. Make the Frosting
- Beat butter until light and creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
- Add cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy and smooth.
3. Assemble the Cake
- Place one cake layer on a board and spread a thick layer of frosting.
- Add the second layer and frost the entire cake.
- Smooth the sides or create decorative swirls for a decadent finish.
