Grandma’s Secret – Ready in 5 Minutes! 🧁✨

This classic French yogurt cake is one of the easiest homemade cakes you can make. Soft, fluffy and wonderfully moist with a fresh lemon aroma, it’s perfect for beginners and busy days. The batter takes only 5 minutes to prepare, and the result tastes like it came straight from a cozy French kitchen. 🇫🇷

A light lemon syrup and delicate icing glaze make it even more delicious – but the cake is fantastic even without them. Simple, classic and irresistible! 💛


📌 Ingredients

• 3 eggs 🥚🥚🥚
• A pinch of salt
• 1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
• 200 g sugar (1 cup)
• 120 ml oil (½ cup)
• 180 g yogurt (¾ cup)
• Zest of 1 lemon 🍋
• Juice of 1 lemon
• 250 g flour (2 cups)
• 12 g baking powder (1 tbsp)


👩‍🍳 Preparation

1️⃣ In a bowl add eggs, salt, vanilla and sugar.
2️⃣ Beat with a mixer for 2–3 minutes until the mixture becomes light and creamy.
3️⃣ Add oil and yogurt, then mix well.
4️⃣ Stir in lemon zest and lemon juice.
5️⃣ Add flour in two stages together with the baking powder, mixing until the batter becomes smooth and lump-free.
6️⃣ Pour the batter into a greased 22 cm (8.6 inch) baking pan lined with baking paper.
7️⃣ Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (347°F) for 35–40 minutes until golden and fully baked.


🍋 Lemon Syrup

• 30 ml water (2 tbsp)
• 2 tbsp sugar (40 g)
• Juice of ½ lemon

➡️ Heat everything together for a few minutes until the sugar dissolves.
➡️ Pour the warm syrup over the warm cake for extra moisture and lemon flavor.


🍥 Simple Lemon Glaze

• 80 g powdered sugar
• 1 tbsp lemon juice

➡️ Mix until smooth and drizzle over the cooled cake.


💡 Tip:
This cake tastes even better the next day, when the lemon syrup fully soaks into the soft crumb.
