🍰 Classic Butter Cake

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) flour
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • A pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C. Grease and line a square pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until pale, light, and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla.
  5. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Fold in half of the dry ingredients.
  7. Add milk and mix gently.
  8. Fold in the remaining dry ingredients until smooth and thick.
  9. Pour batter into the prepared pan and level the top.
  10. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean and the top is golden.
  11. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

💡 Tip: Don’t overmix the batter after adding flour—this keeps your cake soft and tender!
