Fluffy, buttery, and incredibly soft — these homemade milk bread rolls are perfect for breakfast, tea time, or alongside your favorite meal 🤍

🧁 INGREDIENTS

🥖 For the Bread Rolls
• 4 cups bread flour (500g)
• ¼ cup granulated sugar (50g)
• 1 tsp salt
• 2¼ tsp instant yeast (7g)
• 1 cup warm milk (240ml)
• 1 large egg
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (56g)
• 2 tbsp milk powder (optional)
• 2 tbsp heavy cream (optional for extra softness)

🥚 For the Egg Wash
• 1 egg
• 1 tbsp milk

👩‍🍳 INSTRUCTIONS

1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine:
✔ Bread flour
✔ Sugar
✔ Salt
✔ Instant yeast
✔ Milk powder (if using)

Add warm milk and egg, then mix until a dough forms.

2️⃣ Knead the Dough
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Gradually add softened butter and continue kneading until the dough becomes soft, stretchy, and slightly glossy.

3️⃣ First Rise
Cover the dough and let it rise for 1–1½ hours or until doubled in size.

4️⃣ Shape the Rolls
Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions.

Roll each portion into a rope shape.

Using a dough scraper or knife, make several cuts across the dough without cutting all the way through — creating the beautiful segmented pattern ✨

Gently stretch and shape into long bread rolls.

Place onto a lined baking tray.

5️⃣ Second Proof
Cover and allow the rolls to proof again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.

Brush generously with egg wash.

6️⃣ Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes or until beautifully golden brown 🤎

Immediately brush with melted butter for a shiny, extra-soft finish ✨

Allow to cool slightly before serving.
