Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour (about 187 g)
  • 1 cup sugar (200 g)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup melted butter or oil (120 ml)
  • ½ cup warm milk (120 ml)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla flavor
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 170°C–175°C and grease a square or round cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale, thick, and doubled in size.
  • Add melted butter or oil along with vanilla flavor and mix gently.
  • Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Pour in the warm milk and carefully fold everything together until the batter becomes smooth and airy.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 25–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
