Ingredients
Vanilla Batter
• 2½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
• 1½ cups (300g) sugar
• 1 cup (225g) butter, softened
• 4 large eggs
• 1 cup (240ml) milk
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• ¼ teaspoon salt
Chocolate Batter
• ¼ cup (30g) cocoa powder
• 2–3 tablespoons milk (to loosen the chocolate batter)
Instructions
1. Prepare the pan
• Grease and flour a loaf pan or bundt pan.
• Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F).
2. Make the batter
• Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
• Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
• Add vanilla extract.
• Mix flour, baking powder, and salt separately.
• Add the dry ingredients gradually, alternating with milk until smooth.
3. Create the marble effect
• Divide the batter into two portions.
• Mix cocoa powder and extra milk into one portion to make chocolate batter.
• Spoon vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the pan.
• Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl the batter for a marble pattern.
4. Bake
• Bake for 45–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
5. Cool & serve
• Allow the cake to cool for 10–15 minutes before removing from the pan.
• Slice and enjoy the soft chocolate-vanilla swirls.
Baking Tips
Use room-temperature ingredients for a softer cake.
Do not overmix after adding flour.
For a richer flavor, add 2 tablespoons of sour cream or yogurt to the batter.
