Chocolate-Dipped Butter Heart Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

250g (2 cups) all-purpose flour

150g (⅔ cup) unsalted butter, softened

100g (½ cup) granulated sugar

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

200g dark or milk chocolate, chopped

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

1. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, then mix well.

3. Add the flour and salt gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 2: Chill the Dough

4. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30–45 minutes.

Step 3: Shape the Cookies

5. Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F).

6. Roll out the dough to about ½ cm (¼ inch) thickness.

7. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies and place them on a lined baking tray.

Step 4: Bake

8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely.

Step 5: Dip in Chocolate

10. Melt the chocolate using a microwave or double boiler.

11. Dip half of each cooled cookie into the melted chocolate.

12. Place the cookies on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set completely.

Yield

Makes about 30–40 heart-shaped cookies

Tips

For a glossy finish, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to the melted chocolate.

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

You can use white, milk, or dark chocolate depending on your preference.
