📝 Ingredients

🍫 Chocolate Cake

• 3 cups all-purpose flour (375 g)
• 2½ cups sugar (500 g)
• 1 cup cocoa powder (100 g)
• 2½ tsp baking powder
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 cup vegetable oil (240 ml)
• 3 large eggs
• 1½ cups milk or buttermilk (360 ml)
• 1½ cups hot water or hot coffee (360 ml)
• 2 tsp vanilla extract

🍮 Chocolate Fudge Frosting

• 2½ cups unsalted butter, soft (560 g)
• 1½ cups cocoa powder (150 g)
• 6 cups powdered sugar
• ½ cup melted dark chocolate (120 g)
• ½ cup milk or cream (120 ml)
• 2 tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Cake

Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and grease + line three round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, mix oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until combined.

Slowly pour in hot water or coffee and mix gently — the batter will be thin (that’s perfect!).

2️⃣ Bake

Divide the batter evenly between pans.
Bake until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cakes cool slightly, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

3️⃣ Make the Fudge Frosting

Beat butter until light and creamy.
Add cocoa powder and melted chocolate, mixing well.

Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing after each addition.
Pour in milk and vanilla, then beat until smooth, rich, and spreadable.

4️⃣ Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a board and spread a thick layer of frosting.
Add the second layer and repeat.

Place the final layer on top and frost the entire cake — sides and top.
Smooth it out or create beautiful swirls ✨

Chill slightly before slicing for clean, perfect cuts.

Tip: Using hot coffee instead of water intensifies the chocolate flavor without making it taste like coffee!
