How to Make Ghana Meat Pie | Flaky Crust + Juicy Filling

📌 Ingredients (with measurements)

 

For the Dough:

• 500g all-purpose flour

• 250g cold butter (cubed)

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

• 1/3 to 1/2 cup cold water (add gradually)

 

For the Filling:

• 500g minced meat (ground beef)

• 4 tablespoons oil

• 1 medium onion (chopped)

• 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

• 1 teaspoon curry powder

• 1 teaspoon all-purpose spice

• 1 medium carrot (diced)

• 1 medium potato (diced)

• 1 tablespoon corn flour (mixed with 2 tablespoons water to make slurry)

 

For Egg Wash:

• 1 egg (beaten, for brushing)

 

📌 Quick Steps:

1. Mix flour, nutmeg, and salt. Rub in cold butter until crumbly. Add cold water slowly to form dough. Rest for 30 mins.

2. Cook filling: sauté onions in oil, add minced meat, season with curry powder, all-purpose spice, and salt. Add carrots + potatoes. Stir in corn slurry to thicken. Cool completely.

3. Roll dough, cut circles, add filling, fold & seal with a fork.

4. Brush tops with egg wash, poke small holes to release steam.

5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
