A beautiful blend of vanilla and chocolate swirls โ soft, buttery, and perfect with a cup of tea or coffee.
๐งพ Ingredients
For the Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ยผ tsp salt
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- ยพ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Swirl
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp hot milk or hot water
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
๐ฉโ๐ณ Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat oven to 170ยฐC (340ยฐF).
Grease and line one 8-inch round pan or loaf pan.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together:
- flour
- sugar
- baking powder
- salt
3. Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk:
- eggs
- oil
- milk
- vanilla
Mix until smooth and well combined.
4. Combine
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined (do not overmix).
5. Create the Chocolate Batter
- Divide the batter into two bowls.
- Mix cocoa powder with hot milk or water (and sugar if using).
- Stir this mixture into one portion of the batter.
6. Marble Effect
- Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan.
- Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl for a marble effect (avoid overmixing).
7. Bake
Bake for 40โ45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
8. Cool
Let the cake cool completely before slicing.
