๐Ÿงพ Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ยผ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ยพ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Swirl

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp hot milk or hot water
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat oven to 170ยฐC (340ยฐF).
Grease and line one 8-inch round pan or loaf pan.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together:

  • flour
  • sugar
  • baking powder
  • salt

3. Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk:

  • eggs
  • oil
  • milk
  • vanilla

Mix until smooth and well combined.

4. Combine
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined (do not overmix).

5. Create the Chocolate Batter

  • Divide the batter into two bowls.
  • Mix cocoa powder with hot milk or water (and sugar if using).
  • Stir this mixture into one portion of the batter.

6. Marble Effect

  • Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan.
  • Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl for a marble effect (avoid overmixing).

7. Bake
Bake for 40โ€“45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

8. Cool
Let the cake cool completely before slicing.
