Chocolate Strawberry Swiss Roll Cake

A soft chocolate sponge rolled with fluffy strawberry cream and covered in silky chocolate ganache — elegant, rich, and perfect for celebrations ✨


🧾 Ingredients

🍫 Chocolate Sponge

  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar (100 g)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil (60 ml)
  • ¼ cup milk (60 ml)
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour (95 g)
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder (25 g)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🍓 Strawberry Cream Filling

  • 1 cup cold whipping cream (240 ml)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped

✨ Chocolate Coating & Decoration

  • 150 g dark chocolate
  • ¼ cup fresh cream
  • Melted white chocolate, for drizzle
  • Whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and chocolate pieces for topping

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Cake

Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F).
Line a rectangular Swiss roll pan with baking paper.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until thick, pale, and fluffy.

Add:

  • vegetable oil
  • milk
  • vanilla extract

Mix gently until combined.

Sift in:

  • flour
  • cocoa powder
  • baking powder
  • salt

Fold carefully until the batter is smooth and airy.


2️⃣ Bake the Sponge

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

Bake until the cake springs back lightly when touched.

Immediately turn the cake onto a clean sheet of parchment paper.
Carefully peel off the baking paper and gently roll the cake while still warm.

Allow it to cool completely.


3️⃣ Make the Strawberry Cream

Whip the cold cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft and fluffy.

Fold in the finely chopped strawberries.


4️⃣ Fill & Roll

Carefully unroll the cooled cake.

Spread the strawberry cream evenly over the surface, then roll the cake back tightly.

Chill for a short time to help it set.


5️⃣ Prepare the Chocolate Coating

Heat the fresh cream until warm (not boiling).

Pour it over the chopped dark chocolate and let sit for 1–2 minutes.

Stir until smooth, glossy, and silky.

Pour the chocolate coating over the Swiss roll and spread evenly.


6️⃣ Decorate

Drizzle with melted white chocolate and decorate with:

  • whipped cream
  • fresh strawberries
  • chocolate pieces

Chill until set.
