🍪 Classic Butter Cookies
Simple, buttery, and melt-in-the-mouth cookies that are perfect for tea time, gifting, or everyday baking ✨
Ingredients
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until well combined.
Add the flour and salt and mix until a soft dough forms.
Scoop small portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each cookie.
Gently press each ball with a fork to create a simple pattern on top.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool completely before serving.
Tips
- For extra flavor, add a little lemon zest or almond extract.
- Do not overbake if you want soft, tender cookies.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them fresh and crisp.
Easy to make, classic in flavor, and always a favorite with tea or coffee ☕🍪
